Welcome to the 2010 1st Annual Utah Solo Salsa Chocolate Championships. You can also find this event posted on FaceBook.
Competitors
- Competitors MUST register below on the Salsa Chocolate website.
- Competitors are encouraged to use dance shoes, choreography, and an appropriate costume.
- Competitors must be present 10.00pm at Salsa Chocolate for a MANDATORY MEETING. The goal of the meeting is to ensure unity and clarity amongst the events participants.
- Scoring sheets will be released after winners are announced.
- Order of presentations will be based on lottery.
- Your showcase must consist of at least 90% salsa dancing
- Provide your showcase music in CD format, bring two just in case
- Your showcase should be between 1min - 2min
- Understand that there is a 30 second warm up
- After you do your showcase do not leave or change for scoring announcements
- All decisions are final

Scoring
- The competition will be judicated by 3 judges.
- Judges: Alejandro Contreras, and Others To Be Announced
- Judges will use a specific 10 points criteria that will breakdown as follows:
2 points - Costume and overall presentation, including energy
2 points - Consistent timing, solid foundation in the basics, control and sharpness of movement and difficulty of steps.
3 points - Deliberate focus, audience connection, looking up.
3 Points - Choreology, creative movements, such as spins, giration, arms, and flexibility.

10 points total per judge
- All 3 Judges will give their constructive opinions at the end of each contestant’s performance, however, only 2 out of the 3 Judges will reveal their scores. The third score will be revealed at the conclusion of all performances, revealing our winner.
It is our goal that with this event, we are shaping the competition environment for competitors to be able to learn what it take to improve in the competition standings. We plan to do this by sharing the judges score sheets after the event so that you may gain insight on how you can improve your competitive standing.
Prizes
1st Place - Medal, $30, Free Salsa Chocolate Admissions, Free Mixed Drink.
2nd Place - Medal, $25, Free Salsa Chocolate Admissions, Free Mixed Drink.
3rd Place - Medal, $20, Free Salsa Chocolate Admissions, Free Mixed Drink.
