Welcome to the Utah Salsa Idol II (second) singing competition, to be held at Salsa Chocolate Nightclub, on Thursday September 23, 2010.

Competitors

  • This competition will run different than the first so check here often for updates
  • Competitors must pre-audition in private with Salsa Chocolate on any thursday BEFORE the scheduled event
  • Competitors must register on the SalsaChocolate.com website for the specific event... You can do so by clicking on the 'register' down below and follow the instructions
  • Competitors will be responsible for bringing and coordinating their song with us to ensure everything is working properly
  • Sound check will be available September 23, by 4pm
  • Competitors MUST be at Salsa Chocolate Nightclub by 10pm or competitor may be disqualified.
  • The winner will be announced in the night, so please stay in costume.
  • Contestants will be expected to sing for a duration of no more than 3-4 minutes of a song
  • Contestants may provide edited music or can specify when the 3-4 minutes begins within a song so the DJ can fade in-and-out the music for you
  • A conga and timbal musician will accompany every singer

Scoring
  • The competition will be judicated by 1 judge and the audience
  • Judge: We will inform the judge that the comptition will break down as follows:

    5 pts - Deliberate focus
    5 pts - Creativity in movement and gestures
    5 pts - Overall audience reaction

    15 pts - Showmanship

    5 pts - Quality of pitch
    5 pts - Remembering the lyrics
    5 pts - Keeping the rhythm and time of the song with the music.

  • ***This competiiton is to showcase your individuality and its interpretation, so don't be limited to reproducing exactly the orignal track.
    It is our goal that with this event, that we help bring much-needed attention and admiration to our local musical salsa-culture artists. I hope that we can inspire others to host events like ths. It is also our hope that we can host events like these for the musicians as well.
